A Building Designer is someone who helps create the plans for new buildings or changes to existing ones. Imagine you want to build a new house or a school; a Building Designer is one of the first people you would talk to. They listen to what people need and want, and then use their creativity and technical skills to draw up detailed plans and blueprints. They think about things like how much space is needed, where the doors and windows should go, what materials to use, and how the building will look and feel. They use special computer software to create 2D and 3D models so everyone can see what the finished building will look like before any construction even begins. They also make sure the designs meet all the important safety rules and building regulations in the UK. This job involves a lot of problem-solving and working with other people, like engineers, builders, and clients. You get to see your ideas come to life from a drawing on a screen to a real building. It's a great career for someone who enjoys drawing, designing, and thinking about how spaces work, and who wants to help shape the places where people live, learn, and play across the United Kingdom.
