Our approach

How our history curriculum is built

Our history curriculum is organised chronologically, so pupils leave Year 6 with a coherent picture of the past rather than a set of topics studied in isolation.

  • Taught in chronological order

Pupils build one connected picture of the past, not topics studied in isolation.

  • Wide in scope

Units cover social, cultural, political and military history, including ancient and non-European civilisations.

  • Led by enquiry

Sequenced enquiry questions ask pupils to analyse evidence.

  • Weighing significance

Pupils weigh why certain events still carry significance.
