Words and meanings to learn

current

The rate of flow of electric charge in a circuit, measured in amperes (A).

charge

a fundamental property of matter that causes an object to experience a force in an electric field. Charge exists in two forms, positive and negative, and is measured in units called coulombs (C). Like charges repel each other, while unlike charges attract.

ammeter

A device used to measure the current in a circuit, connected in series with the components.

series ciruit

A circuit where components are connected one after another so the same current flows through each component.

coulomb

The unit of electric charge; one coulomb is the amount of charge that passes a point in a circuit when there is a current of one ampere for one second.
