Words and meanings to learn
state change
a physical change where a substance changes from one state of matter to another
heating curve
a graph that shows how the temperature of a substance changes as heat is added over time
particle model
a simplified scientific model used to explain the properties and behaviour of solids, liquids and gases using particles
intermolecular forces
the forces of attraction between molecules; these affect the melting and boiling points of substances
boiling point
the temperature at which a liquid changes to a gas throughout the substance, not just at the surface
