Words and meanings to learn

magnetic

a material or object that can exert a magnetic force on other magnetic materials or be influenced by a magnetic field

permanent magnet

a magnet that retains its magnetism over time and produces its own consistent magnetic field without the need for an external force or electricity

attraction

the movement of two objects towards each other due to magnetism between the opposite poles of magnets (north and south) or a magnetic material being drawn to a magnet

induced magnetism

temporary magnetism induced in a material when it is placed within a magnetic field; the material becomes magnetic only as long as it remains in the field

repulsion

the movement of two objects away from each other due to magnetism between two like poles of magnets (north and north or south and south) interacting
