Words and meanings to learn
velocity
the speed of an object in a specific direction; it is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude and direction
speed
the rate at which an object covers distance; it is a scalar quantity, meaning it has only magnitude, without direction
distance
the total length of the path travelled by an object, irrespective of direction; it is a scalar quantity
acceleration
the rate of change of velocity per unit time; it describes how quickly an object's velocity changes and can be positive (speeding up) or negative (slowing down)
deceleration
negative acceleration, where an object’s velocity decreases over time (slows down)
