A Pin Setter used to be a very important job in bowling alleys! Before machines took over, a Pin Setter was the person who would stand at the end of the bowling lane and manually set up the bowling pins after each ball was thrown. They would also roll the bowling ball back to the players. It was a job that required quickness, attention to detail, and often strength. Today, modern bowling alleys in the UK use clever machines to do this job, so you won't often find a human Pin Setter anymore. However, there are still people who work to make sure these machines are running smoothly. They might be called Maintenance Technicians or Mechanics, and they need to understand how the pin setting machines work to fix them if they break down.
