🚀 Careers in this path

Learn to Play Tennis

Join a Tennis Club

Find a local tennis club and sign up for beginner lessons.

A tennis club is a great place to start learning. Coaches there can teach you the basics, like how to hold the racket and hit the ball. You can also make new friends who enjoy tennis.

Practise Regularly

Play tennis often to get better at the game.

Practising helps you remember what you have learnt and improve your skills. Try to play with different people, including those who are better than you, so you can learn new techniques.

Play in Matches

Take part in friendly matches or competitions at your club.

Playing in matches helps you understand the rules and experience real gameplay. This is important because coaches need to know how matches work so they can teach others.

Learn Coaching Skills

Help Younger Players

Offer to help younger or less experienced players at your club.

By helping others, you start to learn how to explain tennis skills and encourage people. This is a great way to practise being a coach and see what it feels like.

Take a Coaching Course

Sign up for a beginner tennis coaching course.

There are special courses run by organisations like the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) in the UK. These courses teach you how to coach, lead sessions, and keep everyone safe.

Become a Qualified Tennis Coach

Get a Coaching Qualification

Work towards a Level 1 or higher tennis coaching qualification.

You can start with the LTA Level 1 Coaching Assistant course. As you get more experience, you can move up to Level 2 and beyond. Each level gives you more skills and responsibility.

Find a Coaching Job

Apply for jobs at tennis clubs, schools, or sports centres.

Once you have your qualification, you can work as an assistant or lead coach. You might run group lessons, private sessions, or help at tennis camps. Keep learning and growing so you can become the best coach you can be.
