Secondary school teachers work with students aged 11 to 16, and sometimes up to 18 if the school has a sixth form. They are specialists in a particular subject, such as English, maths, science, or history, and are responsible for planning lessons, delivering the curriculum, assessing pupils' progress, and supporting students' social and emotional development. Teachers also attend meetings, run extra-curricular activities, and communicate with parents and carers. The role can be challenging, requiring strong classroom management and communication skills, but it is also highly rewarding for those passionate about helping young people learn and grow.
