This unit introduces learners to what the periodic table is and how to use it. Most of this unit is about describing how the periodic is structured. Learners should be able to identify key areas of the periodic table and describe the chemical and physical properties of elements in different parts of the periodic table. The periodic table has been designed so that chemical and physical trends occur, so it is important to focus on identifying these patterns. Knowing the patterns featured in the periodic table will support your learners understanding of certain chemical reactions i.e. why some reactions occur, and some don’t.
We are currently updating some lessons in this unit, these will be available soon*
