glucose
a simple sugar that is the main energy source for cells, obtained from food and transported in the blood
insulin
a hormone produced by the pancreas that lowers blood glucose by stimulating cells to absorb glucose and converting glucose into glycogen in the liver and muscles
pancreas
an organ that produces insulin and glucagon to regulate blood glucose levels, and enzymes to aid digestion
Type 2 diabetes
a form of diabetes in which body cells do not respond effectively to insulin, often linked to obesity and lifestyle factors, and managed with diet, exercise, and medication
Type 1 diabetes
a form of diabetes where the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, usually treated with insulin injections and lifestyle management
