a system of glands that secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream to regulate body processes
insulin
a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood glucose concentration
pituitary gland
a gland at the base of the brain often called the “master gland” because it produces hormones that control other endocrine glands
hormone
chemical messenger secreted by a gland and carried in the blood to a target organ, where it causes a response
adrenal glands
paired glands located on top of the kidneys that produce hormones including adrenaline, which prepares the body for “fight or flight”

In her spare time, Samantha enjoys playing the accordion with her local orchestra and has recently taken up cricket.
