heart attack
a sudden blockage of blood flow to part of the heart muscle, usually caused by a blood clot
coronary arteries
blood vessels that supply the heart muscle with oxygenated blood needed for respiration
heart failure
a condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood around the body effectively
stent
a small tube inserted into a coronary artery to keep it open and allow blood to flow more easily
statin
a drug that reduces the amount of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol in the blood, slowing the build-up of fatty deposits in arteries

In her spare time, Samantha enjoys playing the accordion with her local orchestra and has recently taken up cricket.
