receptor
An organ or cell able to respond to light, heat, or other external stimulus and transmit a signal to a sensory nerve.
neuron
A nerve cell that carries electrical impulses which are the basic units of our nervous system.
effector
Parts of the body such as muscles and glands that produce a response to a detected stimulus.
stimuli
An input to a person's (or animal's) senses which causes a reaction or response.
response
A reaction to something.
