Horticulturist

A horticulturist is someone who specialises in the science and art of growing and maintaining plants, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants. In the UK, horticulturists may work in gardens, parks, nurseries, farms, research labs, or conservation projects. The role can involve planting, cultivating, breeding, and protecting different plant species. Horticulturists also contribute to sustainable food production, landscape design, and environmental conservation. Typical tasks include soil management, pest control, plant propagation, and advising others on best practices. The work can be both practical and scientific, sometimes involving outdoor, hands-on work and sometimes laboratory or office-based research.
