Their main responsibilities include assisting patients with personal care, such as washing and dressing, helping them move around, serving meals, and monitoring their conditions by taking temperature, pulse, and respiration rates. HCAs play an important role in making patients comfortable and supporting their well-being. The role does not usually require a degree, but employers look for caring qualities and good communication skills. Training is provided on the job, and there are opportunities to progress into nursing or other healthcare roles.
