The eardrum is connected to three small bones known as the ossicles. The ossicles are the smallest bones in our body and they are known as the hammer, the stirrup and the anvil respectively. The hammer is connected directly to the eardrum and vibrates with it. It then strikes the stirrup which then hits the anvil to pass along the vibrations.
