After the mixture of the two solvents has been separated from the solute, the liquid is then heated again to the temperature at which one of the solvents vaporises. But only the solvent with the lower boiling point will vaporise, leaving behind the solvent with the higher boiling point. With the method of fractional distillation, we can separate liquids that have similar boiling points.
