Gold is used a lot for jewellery, but pure gold is too soft, so usually gold is alloyed with silver, copper, and zinc, to make it harder making it a composition of metals. The purity of gold is rated in carats. 24 karat is 100% pure gold. Whereas 18 karat is 75% gold.
