The specific heat capacity we've calculated may not be perfectly accurate. There are a few reasons for this. The first problem is thermal energy passing from the beaker and into the air; we can reduce this effect by insulating the beaker with a material that has low conductivity. Secondly, not all of the thermal energy from the immersion heater passes into the oil; we can solve this problem by ensuring that the immersion heater is fully submerged.
