In some cities, there are so many factories and cars releasing gases into the atmosphere that it causes a ‘smog.’ This word comes from a mixture of ‘smoke’ and ‘fog.’ One of the first places for this to happen was in London in the 1950s, when over 4000 people died of breathing problems.
